Been awhile since I posted and I do apologize. I've since torn the car down for paint/body work to return it to its appearance in that original "Sudden Death" article in Hot Rod. I've repaired all the inner apron damage, cowl rust and poorly done mods, areas where the floor was beaten in with a hammer until it ripped open, etc, etc. We are currently completing the cowl and beginning the rear wheel openings. Once done, we'll be moving on to final small areas and blocking the body for final primer.
Here are a couple of pics of the color inside the cowl and a before/after pic of one side.
The color is awesome.
Here's the lower cowl. The odd colors here and there is light reflection. Hard to believe how nasty it looked only a couple of months ago.

I was thinking today that as many cars as I've restored over the years, I can't recall having put this much effort and emotion into any single one of them!
The cowl notch modification has been TIG welded. I'm so relieved its done. That one repair has nagged me since getting the car, as to how much it was going to take to replicate it all. I think it turned out great.
Before after cutting off the top, exposing the nasty rounded area someone cut into the original piece..oh the horror!
As of now...
Rear hatch/tail light panel pic. I media blasted the entire inside rear upper floor area, inside the quarters, then we got some primer on the rear half of the car. We still have to work the wheel openings.
I did find out the car was around the Atlantic City area back in 1997-1999 and changed hands a couple of times there. Even went to a Kruse auction at the Atlantic City Convention Center in '97, but didn't sell.
hopefully I'll come up with more!
