You can get a door from a junk yard for very cheap. Had gasket is way in that motor sean could probably do it in a couple hours. As for the vortec idk whats wrong with it but I'm positive you cam send out the head unit and have it overhauled for under a thousand.

Toss your bro in law some cash for helping you out and you can rebuild everything on yours for under 2g's

Hmmmm well head gaskets on a 5.0 are cake no problem. Like tommy said you can probably get a door for like 100 bucks out of a yard and you have a paxton right? I believe a full rebuild on a head unit is like 500 bucks. So figure you can fix the car for a g. But then isnt the quarter smashed. Is the car rusted? You might be better off I would have to see. I have a buddy selling an lx hatch pretty cheap though with a carbed 302

are you sure you need a head gasket? You had over heated the car before right? If that's the case you may need some mill work done to the heads and the block. The choice is up to you. I personally don't think the paxton is worth fixing it will only go bad again, they know known for it. You might be better off selling the car as is and starting off from scratch with an unmolested fox or one that has very little work done to it.

1+ on what Kyle said. Especially if you need this car to commute to school/college/work etc on a daily basis. I'd aimed to get something reliable unless you can fix yours within your budget. I know it's been having issues pretty much since you bought it and that happens so its strictly up to you.

Also keep in mind your looking at 20+ year old cars and might end up being worse off then this one is already.
