Default deerslayer trans is burned up...

i've been having some bad luck for a couple of weeks now, i had a really bad cold that knocked the shit out of me, & now on my way to work monday night my trans was slipping in & out of overdrive..so when i checked fliud level it was full but had a bad burnt smell..i haven't had time to drop off @ trans shop by me yet (i'm dredding how much it gonna cost)

a full trans service filter fluid shouldnt be over 125

really, thats all it could be? the car does still move, just no overdrive..

i just got off phone with trans shop, he said check the kick down cable from throttle body to see if it's still connected, & if thats the problem, hopefully the trans isnt burned up...

i hear ya on the cold thing Dave, we had a wave go through my area last week, i got it pretty good myself after my flight in last week, i blame the idiots on the plane lol. Hope your trans fix is on the less expensive side

I know all about bad luck recently - especially bad luck related to the car.

thanks everybody, the trans shop that i talked to yesterday said a common problem is the grommet that holds the kick down cable breaks and then makes the pressure drop off the clutch plates, which in turn could burn out trans....of course i checked that & there is no problem with it....so, more than likely i gotta get trans rebuilt, i will know more when i can get it to a shop, or if one of you club mechanics want to look @ it, that would be really cool too...
