Not sure. Think that's gonna be a liability for the shop that they don't want to take. Goodluck though
I'm getting ready to fire my new 347 after an 11 month build, and I'm running a MegaSquirt 3, MS3x expander card, and wideband O2's on the new setup. I've been doing a lot of reading on how to tune this thing myself and intend to tune the VE tables as closely as I can using the widebands before I work on the timing.
My question is this: clearly I need time on a dyno to tune the timing for optimal power and look for any detonation problems safely. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to search local businesses on google for shops with steady state dynos. Does anyone know a good shop in central NJ with a steady state dyno that will rent me time and let me tune my car myself? I have no desire to pay someone to do what I know I can do after doing the research that I've done. I just need access to the equipment to do it correctly.

Yeah thats a tough one....I mean if you changed your mind, there's many shops who could tune it right for you and probably warranty their work somehow?

Xenocron Tuning in Hillburn NY will rent dyno time. Usually around $100 per hour. Although as others have suggested it's probably better and less expensive to have a pro do it. At $100 an hour you may not want to be learning while doing it.
89 5.0 LX: A work in progress... Vortech underhood and lots of Maximum Motorsports components undercar.
03 GT: Mostly suspension, bolt-ons and interior upgrades.
99 F-350 7.3L DIT: daily driver/beater, the usual diesel mods.
Thanks flatrate, Xenocron looks like it's exactly what I'm looking for. I was hoping to avoid driving that far to a dyno, especially highway driving, but I think I can dial it in close enough without a dyno so that I won't do any damage. I just won't be making any power on the way up...
Tuning the timing tables is a fairly straightforward process. I've already set up all other aspects of my tune such as injector pulse timing, and by the time I get on the dyno my VE tables are going to be more or less where they need to be due to my investment in widebands. Hell, just the fact that Xenocron mentions "DIY" on their website has me sold. I'm a very DIY person. I soldered up and installed the whole thing myself, only seems right that I should do the tuning too.
I use 1320performance in Garwood. Its a full blown ricer shop, but they have an all wheel dynojet they rent me by the hour. They will strap it down for you, give you the 5 minute pc tutorial and let you do it all. Like $75 and hour. Best thing is they dont open till like 11am or when ever they get out of bed but they are there weekends and evenings. 1320's number is 908-264-8646 ask for Nick. Tell him AL with the red and white mustangs refered you. They are pretty cool there. AL.
