Default Help with SVO Y Heads needing Repair or Rebuild??

I am looking into picking up a set of SVO Y Alum heads, the guy said to me he snapped his crank and is parting out the motor. He said when it snapped he slightly bent one valve in each head. He is saying its like a $50 dollar repair or so. How much do you guys think it would cost to repair, and how much for a full re-build, and is it worth it? HELP!! Thanks!

This is also posted under general, but I thought I may get some responses from my fellow foxbody guys!!

The heads are going to be 4-500 probably, He says his head guy says they have 1 bent valve in each one thats it, supposedly... I am just wondering if they are worth completely rebuilding or just go with the replacement of the damaged valves??

Also does anyone know where I can some good spec sheets on these heads as I was having an issue finding them?

You can true valves cant you?

Usually when the heads are out and there is valve work that needs to be done, might as well throw new seals and guides in there as well...

Thats what I was thinking but I wasnt sure if these were worth the work or not? I am not sure how much that would all cost cause if its going to cost another 300 bucks I might as well get some patriot heads brand new...

Yea machine work isn't cheap.

I mean, IDK too much about 5.0 heads so i can't speculate. Why not some GT40's or maybe some TFS stuff? Can't you get a set of those used for like 400~500$?

The SVO's are the same as the GT-40 Y heads.. It appears I could just replace the two valves and have the seats machined for 100 bucks at a local machine shop, but I am trying to figure if Eldebrock Performer heads are better or Windosr Jr. as I have seen a set of those pretty cheap. I think the windsor jrs may be to much maybe... Not sure as I havent really looked at them. Just as an FYI, I will be installing what ever I get with a Cobra upper and lower. Then I need to look into the injectors and stuff..

Ahh I never knew that.

$100 seems like a sweet price. I'd get those heads definitely then.

What cam you gonna be running? Is the Cobra U/L gonna be ported at all?

I believe those were the iron heads right? I am going to look again but I told the guy I am going to take the heads and try to put $100 bucks into them for now... Its just I have a chance to grab a pair of Eldelbrock Performer heads NIB for not too much more.

King, how do you like your aluminum GT40 heads? What have you run at the track, if you have? And do you have the y or x heads?
