Default Intermittent Starter Run-On

I have a 92 GT that occasionally will not disengage the starter after the engine has started.

I have wiggled the ignition switch with no effect. To this point it has disengaged by itself after a few seconds of engine running.

Do you think I should just change out the starter? Could it be a faulty ignition switch? I would appreciate your opinions or suggestions for diagnosis.

- Jason

Sounds like your starter solenoid is on its way out. The black box on the drivers side inner fender well when they start to go the contacts inside can weld them selves together and keeping cranking

To close this thread... a rebuilt Ford starter from NAPA did the trick.
Thanks for the suggestions!
