Default Shakey's build thread 89 Gt 5speed.

alright guys. heres what i got so far.

306 according to PO 10:1 comp
f303 cam
gt 40 tubular
gt40 iron heads not the p versions
70mm tb w spacer
fender intake
shorty headers
poly motor and trans mounts
poly bushings
new quad shocks
stock injectors still
guessing stock fuel pump also
smog pump gone
a/c deleted
ford motorsports springs
world class t5
3:73 rear
exhaust is straight pipes to flowmasters dumped no H or X pipe
lx smoked tails

1st thing i need is a manual seat track just so i can drive it. cant reach pedals where its set right now. left side of drivers track is snapped. so if anyone is reading this that has a track laying around let me know!!! take a whole seat if it matches my interior.

my plans in immediate future is to properly set up the exhaust with high flow cats past the headers all the way to the bumper and focus on chassis mods 1st like subframe connectors and rear control arms.

after that im thinking either new aluminum heads, any reccomendations?

or just bolt a low boost s/c kit?

would like to have 11-12 second street car when all said and done.

i will need to drive it in rain but plan on parking it if snow comes.

added a pic to my avatar of the car

well lets see... i wouldnt say that aluminum heads would be real beneficial over the p heads but if that compression is correct than i wouldn't put any boost to it either. what year is the car? is it mass air or air density?

oh sorry just saw p and assumed well your next step would be to jump up the size of your mass air flow sensor and housing and possibly consider some 24 lb injectors. those 19s are probably maxxed out then possibly a 255 lph fuel pump

with the 255lph will i need to upgrade anything like the return line to the tank? i was planning on getting 24lb injectors soon. any reccomendation on what mass air sensor i should be looking at?

ive been researching the twisted wedge heads for some bigger valves...some are saying keep my current intake manifold and some are saying it may be better to do a whole top end kit supposedly the gt40 tubular doesnt flow that great...

also is the fcam holding me back on hp, granted it seems like a pretty agressive cam by the specs and supossed to be good with forced induction. i guess i should get a compression test done to see what it is for sure. all else fails im not married to supercharging the car theres always nitrous for track days

as far as heads previous owner reccomended keeping it all ford and bolt on some gt40x heads with 58cc chambers they also come 64cc combustion chamber. would 64cc drop my compression a little?

no the 255 holley or walbro will drop right in and go right in the factory housing very easy swap. For a mass air flow sensor im a fan of the c&l setup i believe i had a 76 mm on my 89 with a very similiar setup to yours. the twisted wedge heads are nice and Trickflow does a very nice job if you wanted to change the top end they make different stage kits with there heads intake manifold and cam so its all setup to flow together but the gt40 does flow significantly better to stock. i wouldnt say the f cam is holding you back at the moment if anything id say its perfect for the setup you have especially with the 3.73 gears. if you were to change to the gt40x heads which i personally like alot they are a good head but i think the 64 cc would be a tad big for your setup and yes it would drop compression but im not sure how much. Do you have any info on the bottom end? pistons rods crank? im kinda curious where the high compression is coming from. you might be able to get away with light boost right now but you have to find out the compression.

I think I may have a seat track. I'll have to see if it's driver or passenger.

think i may have a catted x pipe thanks to higu!

next piece to the puzzle will be rear section of the exhaust. i plan to go 2.5 inch. any reccomendations? the x pipe is mac

also id like opinions on wheels. right now im on pony's thinking about weld draglites as i like the look. dont wanna run skinnies though so i was thinking 15x6 fronts with 15x8 rears or just go to a 17" wheel like cobra, 95 cobra r or saleen replica in staggered fitment? seeing as im upgrading the control arms i can ditch the quad shocks and run a 17x10 rear if i go that route.

granted if i can find a nice deal on a used set of wheels i may do that....
