Default 160* thermostat?

has anybody put on a 160* thermostat and does it help at all? just though about this cause its a cheap mod ha

I think thats a bit too cold. The o2 sensors and catalytic converters need things to be a certain temperature for the car to run right, and I believe thats just too cold.

foxbody stock is 180*. the 94 and up Tstats were different temps. Since there is an electric fan in the sn95 cars, the computer is programmed to turn the fan on at a specific temp. without a tune or a tuning device, you cant take advantage of a colder stat - you would need to tell the computer to turn the fans on at a colder temp - other than what its originally programmed for. leave the tstat alone unless there's something wrong with it if you change it to a colder temp without adjusting the tune for it, it just takes the car longer to warm up / dumps more fuel / wears out the o2 sensors faster.

Youll probably want a 180.. 160 is too cold and johnny is right it could screw up the emissions systems. I swapped a 180 in mine and it stays cool all year round.
