Question 2003 Ford Mustang GT: Air only coming out of the vents when turned to high

So, I decided to throw the A/C yesterday for just a little bit to cool down. Turn the knob to A/C and left the fan speed at slowest one and didnt feel anything. Turned it to the next speed, nothing and the third the same. It isnt until I turn it to full blast that I feel anything out of the vents. Does the same with Max A/C as well.

Does the same thing for heat too?.

When on full blast the air is ice cold. The vents worked fine over the winter for the heat. Anyone know what causes this? Blend door actuator?

Thanks
--John

The same thing happened to my car it's an easy fix. I'll have to ask Shawn which part he had to change but it didn't take him long at all

Edit

It was the transistor. Thanks dan for the reminder lol

Awesome! Anyone have a DIY walkthrough?

Or is it called a Blower Motor Resistor?

Yep, resistor. Had to replace it on my '99 F150 last year. Really easy to do!

It will be right behind the glove box mounted in the blower housing. Just a couple screws hold it in.

Cool, thank you. I did some research on-line and it looks pretty simple. I think I might even be able to handle it.

it could be like mine got messed up a while back. the knob itself may be a little messed up and not aligned properly. your knobs pull off if i'm not mistaken right? pull it off and turn the internal part and inspect it. I had to yank on a plastic part to align it properly and now it works fine
