Default Brake Upgrade

I am on the market for a brake upgrade for my 99 gt. looking for suggestion on reasonable price packages? would like to do all 4 at once if possible. if not should the front or rear be done first? kinda on a budget will entertain offers on used. all opinions are welcome and considered very helpful.

I just went with the SSBC slotted brake kit from www.latemodelrestoration.com They come with Hawk HPS pads as well. My friend got them for his '01 V6 and had the same problem I did....slow shipping. The shipping isn't a problem with LMR but with SSBC taking a while to ship out.

As for the brakes, for me it was a big improvement since there was nothing left on the front pads. But damn do I get a lot of brake dust.

Here's direct link

my car is mainly a weekend driver. so these seem like a good choice. how long have you had them? Also where did you get your rims.

I've had the brakes for about 2 months now I think it's been.

The rims I found on Craiglist and picked them up 2 days later lol. The only place I've found them is www.stangmods.com so I'm assuming they came from there(I think I'm the 3rd person to own these). 17x9 in front and 17x10 in the rear. My friend managed to get a set of white Cobra R's just like I have but with no deep dish and wants to trade(same sizes). But I'm not sure how white on white would look lol.

Hawk HPS, it's been 'bad' since I first put them on about 2 months ago.

Well the Hawks are dirty. If you are just using your car on the street they are not the pad for you. If you take your car on the track you will love them and learn to put up with the dirt. They will also squeak some times too.

Yeah, mine started squeaking not too long ago. But it's only at low speeds when coasting to a red light and it squeaks pretty damn loud lol.

I'll replace the fronts with EBC's eventually. But they do brake very well I must say.

Sorry for the hijack lol.

Well on the track they rock! But the "red light" squeak is embarrassing! LOL

Cobra spec brakes...

bullitt front calipers LOADED with brackets and pads for $249 shipped from buyfordracing.com

2 13" rotors for up front = $115

So thats 364 for the front upgrade (WELL WORTH IT)

and then the rear 11.65" brake kit from buyfordracing.com is like $175 and comes with nearly everything you need. you can re-use your stock calipers, you just need new cobra pads.

Your call whether or not you want to go to cobra spec or just upgrade the stock stuff.. I love my new cobra spec brakes, but my friends GT with aftermarket pads/rotors stops pretty well too. However, he still has all of his pedal sponge and i have none whatsoever. Worth it for me. My car still brakes much harder, but his brakes great too
