On my way to work I just got a CEL and scanned it.

Got the code P0125:
"Closed loop fuel control insufficient coolant temp."

Any thoughts? Going to google now.

After google search:

P0125 OBD-II Trouble Code

Technical Description

Insufficient Coolant Temperature For Closed Loop Fuel Control

What does that mean?

This means that the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor indicates that the engine has not reached the required temperature level to enter closed-loop operation within a specified amount of time after starting the engine.

Symptoms

You will likely not notice any drivability problems.

Causes

A code P0125 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

Insufficient warm up time
Low engine coolant level
Leaking or stuck open thermostat
Faulty coolant temperature sensor
Possible Solutions

The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If the code comes back, the problem is likely going to be the result of the above causes (faulty thermostat, faulty ECT sensor, or a low coolant level).

Going to go check my coolant level when I get the chance and see if that's it.

My temp gauge is usually a bit towards the "C" side from top dead center.

hmm well there should be an engine coolant temperature sending uit dedicated to the pcm so either that sensor went bad or maybe the wiring.

This is a bad thermostat. It is very common on SN-95's. Go to your local Ford dealer, and get a Motorcraft t-stat. Do NOT go to Autozone or Advance auto and get some off the shelf t-stat. The OEM Ford one is a thousand times better. If your ECT was bad you would have a ton of fuel trim problems, and the car would not run right. T-stat's are notorious for failing after time on SN-95's.

Awesome tareq thanks! That takes a load off my mind. I'm worried enough about the rear end noise so this will at least be an easy job.

Yeah I can't wait for that day lol.

Ok so I cleared the code and took a ride and the temp gauge is just a hair under the absolute middle once it reaches operating temp. So i'll change the thermostat but for now it should be fine. Going to check the fluid level before I leave for work as well.
