Ok so my check engine light has been on for a while and I checked the codes and I have five of them coming up, they are:
P0411
P1000
P1151
P1260
P1414
I looked up the info on all of them and I kind of have an idea of what they mean, but I need to know how to go about fixing my car so my check engine light will go off. So if anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
what are the codes for, the only way i know how to get rid of them with out fixing the problem is with something like a sct tuner that gives you that option.

Well P0411 is "Secondary Air Induction System - Incorrect Flow" Could be a leak on your intake tubing, do you have CAI? If so how long has it been on? Did you double check everything and make sure it's tight and not leaking? Check the gas cap, ensure that's not the reason, I know a loose gas cap can cause all kind of codes to be thrown.
P1K is "Check of OBDII System Not Complete" You can complete a few driving cycles and it should clear this problem up. Did you tune your car or do anything else to the PCM lately?
P1151 is "Lack of HO2S-21 Switch, Sensor Indicates Lean" This means Heated Exhaust Oxygen (HO2S) sensor indicating lean at the end of a test is trying to correct for an over-rich condition. The test fails when the fuel control system no longer detects switching for a calibrated amount of time. There's a few things that can cause this but overly high or low fuel pressure can, which goes back to the gas cap theory, also if you tuned your car recently and bumped up fuel pressure this could do it, also leaks in your intake system after the MAF or other vacuum leaks can cause this too.
P1260 is "Engine Disabled P1260 Theft Detected - Engine Disabled" Your passive anti-theft system was activated, the chip in your key could be going bad or PATS could be thrown off by a recently installed alarm, outside of that, no idea wtf could cause that. You can try erasing the code and that should fix it, if not you may need a dealer to unlock PATS, but last time it happened to someone I knew, I erased the code and the car started.
P1414 and P0411 are actually related codes, they tend to pop up together a lot, that code is "Secondary Air Injection Monitor circuit High Input" Basically the "Secondary Air Injection" is your smog pump. I would check the smog pump and make sure there is nothing wrong with it, then check fuses and relays and make sure they are all good to go.
You could just try erasing all codes starting up and crossing your fingers, sometimes it's just something quirky and they never show up again but if they do I would check your fuses and relays 1st, make sure it's not something stupid and simple, then from there check your smog pump. The smog pump could explain all codes (except PATS, wtf), so could a bad fuse or relay, so could an unsealed gas tank, so could a new CAI.
Oh wow that helps...I know we've tried erasing them with the sct tuner I have and they keep coming back...I think a vacuum leak maybe the source of a few of these codes
She does have a BBK intake, we installed last year but these codes kept coming and going since then....so I don't think it has to do with that but I will check it.
Another related issue has to do with her defroster motor (when she has the ac nob off, it makes a high pitched sound) Local Ford dealership up here told us $400+ to rip apart the dash and replace the defroster motor) --- not worth their price since we can get to it by removing the stereo head unit. Also, got all 3 motors sitting around for less to put them in.
As far as her Alarm, her's came with some p.o.s. aftermarket alarm that was wired completely wrong and spliced I believe and we had it disabled and the Ford dealership up here (which I won't name but there's a few that know which Ford it is since they seem to do messed up work). They screwed up I guess and disabled her factory alarm system now too.
Problem is she goes for inspection in June and we need help fixing all these things, I believe a friend of ours is going to help us but any input we can get or additional help would be cool.
For the smog pump, I'm not a mechanic as much as I wish I was so I could do everything to my car, and this is one thing I know nothing about, nor about its location, or how to check it lol........hey I can change my own brakes, tires, oil, and other repair work, but some engine stuff that I have yet to learn about.
Smog pump is easy to check, unplug the hose, is it pumping air? No? bad smog pump, no cookie! Then in the Audi thread it outlines how to check the solenoid without turning the car on, good advice actually.
Well 1. Smog Pump
2. Thermactor Diverter Valve (Secondary Air Injection Control Valve)
3. SAIS Actuator part #E8AZ-9H465-B
4. Secondary Air Pump and Control Module (In passenger Fender Fall - Tends to get flooded if you do alot of driving in the rain)
I emailed him if the problem got fixed and here is the email I got from him.
"The P0411 error code was in fact being thrown by the thermactor
diverter valve (secondary air injection control valve) and was an
expensive $350 fix for something that in no way impacted the driving of
the car. Supposedly its a common Mustang problem, per my dealer, which
is a pain because they tend to be the only one who can supply the part.
Good luck,
Mark"

If you don't hear the pump motor running for about 20 seconds on a cold start, the pump motor is probably burned out, and you'll never get rid of the PO411 error code....I replaced the pump and haven't had the error return...search eBay for a Mustang secondary air pump, buy it, install it and you should be fine after about 150 miles of driving. The code will eventuslly go away by itself once you're pumping air at cold start.
sounds to me like a vacum leak or something wrong with the MAF or TB. I'd suggest reverting back to stock and clearing the codes then see if they reappear. If so, it might be time for a tune to see if that helps. Clearing the codes won't do anything but not have that annoying engine light appear on you.
I know its not the fuel filter since you and i changed it last year, but perhaps an injector maybe be clogged and leaning out the engine.
Also it may be related to your exhaust, perhaps a bad O2 sensor.... that would cause a bunch of codes if it went bad. You should check the connections on the exhaust and make sure there are no leaks or gaps
Sure i will. I have a few ideas on stuff that could help you out if you are still running into problems. But i will only be around on sunday and i know thats the day you see your parents so i dunno if we will have time to meet up, but if we can, i'll help you clean out your TB and MAF and see if that helps.
