Exclamation Help! New Rear brakes not fitting even after compressing caliper piston

Hey guys. Almost done with putting in the new bearing and seal for my car. I decided to put on new brake pads and rotors while I'm in there since the old ones on the drivers side got covered with gear oil and they both needed to be replaced anyway.

So I got the new pads and rotors and I can't get the pads to fit around the rotor. I tried compressing the pistons and no matter how hard I clamp down on them (using a c clamp) I cannot get them to budge.

Any information would be greatly appreciated as I need to have the car going by the end of tomorrow (tuesday).

Thanks in advance

Another bit of info, I had to disconnect the parking brake at the caliper during the install. I have not hooked them back up yet. Could this be causing it? I doubted it because when the parking brake is down the cable moves freely anyway.

Also I had to destroy my abs wheel-speed sensors... But I doubt that has anything to do with it either.

you have to use the tool to turn them in they don't just compress that way. Either the cube or rent the kit from Auto Zone

Man this blows. Wish I knew before I started. Alright well I read this on another forum...

"Also if you have abs you need to crack the bleeder screw before forcing the piston back. If you don't you run the Risk of ruining a abs unit which is probably around $2500"

Any truth to that? I usually just open the top of the brake fluid reservoir before compressing them.

Thanks a ton for the help guys can't express enough how much I appreciate it.

I did the same thing, I've done dozens of brake jobs, but it wasn't until my car that I had to deal with this. As everyone else said, I bought the cube first but after an hour of yelling and very creative cursing just went and rented the real tool.

As for messing up the ABS, Thats only an issue if you slam the piston in, if you take your time it should be fine.

Yeah I've done plenty of brakes as well but never had to use a tool like this so it threw me off. Alright well to advanced I go after work
