Question How hard is a spark plug change on the 4.6?

I'm slowly tuning up my car and the next stage is spark plugs. Just wondering how hard/easy it is on the 99-04 GT's. Should I attempt it myself or just have a shop do it? I've never done plugs before so I have no idea what I'm in for.

Thanks

It's pretty easy. You should be able to do it yourself.

I'd also stop by for a mod day if you decide to do it.

yea no need to pay a shop. all you need is a 3/8 ratchet with a 6 inch extension and possibly a wobble attachment (I have beeen able to get it without one) and I believe the spark plug socket is a 5/8. Please lmk when this Mod day happens I would love to come out to that.

I'm actually going to be changing mine in like a half hour, for the most part they are easy, I know for me since I have the sixer it's a little hard to get them out b/c maneuvering around the engine is not the easiest, but once they are out putting the new ones in is easy.

I have the hayne's manual as well but I don't really use it that often b/c I really don't need to but I do think it does help so you have an idea on what exactly you are doing, I agree with everyone else that you don't need to pay a shop to do it.

I agree and always have issues removing the last plug, cylinder 6, it's in the worst location on a sixer, just a pita to remove lol as for the Haynes manual it comes really handy when doing electrical work, it has all the wiring diagrams, I relied on it heavily when I installed my viper alarm

I haven't changed plugs in ages because my escape had 100,000 mile plugs in it and three of the plugs are covered by the manifold. Not something I'd want to remove. When I looked at the Mustang engine, I could clearly see all 8 COP's so it looked relatively easy to get to the plugs...
