Question Motor Swap

So a friend of mine (areale93) has an explorer motor (aluminum block) I can get for around $400. Should bolt right up according to the guy he's getting it from. Anyone think this would be a decent move as a backup? $400 sounds like a pretty low price to me. Might give me more peace of mind to do my 150shot nitrous and 30lbs of boost on the current block if I have a spare. LOL.

Gotta look into more on it compression stroke all that. I dont know if they are different or not. If your just looking for the block i can almost guarantee its weaker than your cast block

150shot! I like the sound of that but $400! that's cheap, what's the mileage on the motor?

Alright thanks dan I'll have to get all the specs on it. I'm not sure on the mileage that's on my list of questions for when I call the guy.

Tareq I'd love to have nitrous lol. I think it would be an excellent addition but first I need to fix my diff! Though I don't know if I'd go as far as 150. I don't want to be leaving pieces of my motor at the track haha

Change out the diff fluid. I think you posted a sound clip a while back.My '03 was making the exact same sound. It got louder and louder when parking so I finally got around to changing the fluid. The sound is now totally gone for like $40.

If its a complete block thats an alright deal. Teksid blocks are all over craigslist for usually $250-$400.
