Default New Wheels for 2003 GT... Maybe

I'm in a crunch for new wheels with tires.. and a budget. a guy is selling 4 18in x 9in GT4 wheels with tires but the problem is I'm running the stock suspension on my car an 03 gt and the tire sizes are 255/55-18 front and 285/40-18 rear... Just want opinions on whether they would fit properly and if my car would look ridiculous

Could be interesting, have someone photoshop them on your car first.

Go try it out I can't see them being too far off depending on the spacing of the rim

i've run those on my S197 and they were hot. I've seen New edge guys run a 10.5 inch wide rim in the rear with 305+ tires so i know they will fit, its just a matter of if you like it or not

Post up some pics!

DO NOT BUY THEM

I just went to 1010tires.com and used the tire calculator...

This is hard to explain since i cant hyperlink you all of the tire sizes i input into the tire calculator, but you could do it yourself if you had to.

Your stock tires are 25.68" in diameter. That's the number that you want to stay at so that your speedo and everything works as it is supposed to.. You need to stay within 3% of that diameter at the maximum if you must have a different tire size. According to 1010tires.com, they recommend staying within 3% of your stock tire diameter to prevent brake failure.

But anyway, the 255/55/18's up front are going to come in with a diameter of 29.04". This is an 11.58% increase in diameter from stock. Those tires are going to be HUGE up front on your car and it's not going to look right AT ALL... Not to mention your speedo is going to be reading nearly 13% too slow. You are going to think you are going 70, but really its probably more like 61-63

As for the rear 285/40/18's -- These are going to come in at a diamter of 26.97".. This is a 4.79% increase from stock tire size. Although it's closer to stock, it's still going to be noticeably goofy on your car and the speedo will still be off by ~5mph.

I know you are in a bind for wheels/tires, but there are SO MANY deals to be had. Pass on these wheels/tires or just buy the wheels themselves and buy different tires...
