A little more info would help us out a bit. What year Mustang are you swapping? Also, what type of motor is going in?

trans swaps generally arent that hard. but it would make specifics easier to know what year and what motor

i did this swap last fall, i know it's incredibly easy for the New Edges at least. this was with the stock 3.9 and a T5 from an '02, so everything matched up. honestly, the most difficult part i had with the entire thing was just the lack of space for the pedal assembly. i didn't have everything i needed at the time but if i did, i don't see it taking me more than a weekend to do. i can only think of 2 glaring points from my install right now. 1) you will need a new driveshaft yoke for the manual. the one for the automatic is gonna be short. i just got a FRPP aluminum driveshaft. 2) when you're sliding the transmission in, have somebody in the car hold the clutch down or else the transmission will be about 1/2" short of sliding completely in. drove me insane until i thought about it ha.

Did this on my 96GT.

Quite easy if you have all the parts.

I had a parts car to take stuff off from, so it was literally cake. The hardest part was the pedal box, TRUST ME, take the drivers seat out when you do this, makes life 10x easier and saves time in the end.

DO IT! i guarantee you'll love the car after you're done!

I found a 1999 GT and it needs a motor and i would prefer to not have an automatic V8 mustang, so i wanted to take out the AOD trans and put in the 5 speed. From what ohfour and greenscoobie said it does not seem to hard. I own a fox body now and was going to get rid of it, and i knew changing the trans in the fox was a nightmare, my cousin did one himself and had a lot of trouble with it, so i was just hoping it would not be as hard to do.

So what your saying is that changing the trans on the 1999 should be easy?

+1

i'm 6'4" so even after taking out the driver's seat, i had to maneuver myself a bit but i can't imagine what it would have been like without taking the seat out.

yes you will absolutely love it and never want to go back to an automatic, at least that's the case with me ha.
