Default Is a tuner worth it?

On my Mach1 now is a slp exhaust and jlt intake. I plan on getting mac ceramic long tube headers and a mac off road h pipe. And maybe gears, maybe. Everyone keeps telling me to get a tuner. Is it a good idea? Seems to confusing to use. Plus I don't want to start messing with the car's computer. Please help. Thanks.

How does it work? Is it confusing and/or hard? I was looking at this: http://www.americanmuscle.com/tuner-...it-9904gt.html - it would come out to $494.99

Think of it old school... as in you have a toolbox full of tools so you can tune/work on a carb, adjust timing etc... It is the bare essential you will need to get the most performance out of your car...

it just plugs in. you get tunes from a/m or other places and they tune your car for the performance part you are putting on so that you can get the most out of the parts performance wise.

I plan on getting mac ceramic long tube headers and a mac off road h pipe. With the low end torque id lose I can make up for it with gears. Plus these gears and tuner come in package for what appears to be a good deal for the price. I can get it for $494.99 with the discount code.

Do I have to plug it in every time I turn the car on? Do I have to use it every time I wanna go fast or go to the track? Can it damage anything on the car?

u will need to tune for gears for sure.
no. u just plug in and adjust for the gear ratio. done. 5 minutes.

most people have street tunes and then a track tune. which would be most likely an adjustment in timing for the higher octane fuel.

i drive with my race tune all the time. a lot of folks do that too. as long as u have good gas in the car and the right octane then you will not get any pre detenation and will be fine.

Plus it says it comes with free tunes for life. Is this a good deal for $494.99? http://www.americanmuscle.com/tuner-...it-9904gt.html

order the tuner with tunes. a/m has a sheet you fill out with all the mods and they will load it in for you and all you have to do is select. easy. if u are unsure there are tons of people here that would help i am sure.

yeah the free tunes for life is a good deal as you will not need to buy the tunes unless you go with forced induction then you will need to be dyno tuned. if you plan on staying all motor and dont want boost or nitrous then you will be fine.

SCT and Diablosport are industry standards. I have had both. More people use SCT because they are more popular with places with dynos and tuners but either is fine. I had the diablo but switched to SCT for the reason above.
