Default 05-09 Ford Mustang - Pulled Ebake up seems there's no tension

I was just driving my car to the store, and when I went to park and pull the E-brake, all I heard was like a thump and then there was no tension on the handle. If I pull it ALL the way up, like abnormally high, it feels like the brake is engaged but I'm not sure. Can someone please help me ASAP?!

Seems your ebrake is frozen or the wire snapped....only seen it happen in the winter....put the car in neutral while on and see if it rolls freely or if it has restriction, easier noticed letting it fall back.

If it's not flowing freely, check your rear ebrakes behind each rear caliper and see if it's stuck, snapped or something else. More than likely it sounds like it snapped it.

From the bottom when it's disengaged, as I pull it up it feels like it's not attached to something until it is like at the absolute top. It's really weird and i don't know what to do I've been parking on level ground and leaving it in gear

Hm, how many miles on it? Done the rear brakes? It's possible for the inner pad to wear out? Or you may just have to adjust it in the center console, under that small trap door, there's something you have to turn.

It's got 40xxx on it and yeah I've doe rear brakes on it, do I have to take those two screws out in the center console and like fold it towards the windshield, as if I was putting in a short throw shifter?

Actually I was able to get to mine from a little cap in the center storage compartment, it's right behind it

Damn I'm in work now but I'm gonna check that asap! If it snapped is that an expensive fix?

Eh if the cable did break, it depends which one....I think they are under 30 bucks....I've replaced both rear pieces since they froze up over the last few winters.....it may just have gotten loose.

there is an adjustement on the console and also one on the cables themselves underneath the car. if it just all of a sudden one day got very easy you broke a cable almost guarenteed.
