Default 2005 Under-Hood Liner Sagging Fix?

Hey Guys & Gals,

I recently put a plenum cover on my engine and noticed that the liner on the hood is sagging so much it lays on the top of the engine. It actually took some of the silver off the new cover.

Anyway, is there any way to get it to stay where it's supposed to? We tried double sided tape, however it doesn't want to seem to stick to the fabric.

Ideas would be appreciated! :-)

Fred

What's that? Take it off? I guess I could, but wouldn't that make it a lot louder?

This is true. I guess it's just there for looks. It' doesn't really serve a purpose?

The center of the underside of your hood may not be painted just a warning. If it is yank the damn thing

The whole purpose of it is if the engine catches fire the little plastic plugs that hold it up will melt and the mat will lay on the engine smothering the fire. Does it work, won't on my car because I took 3M spray, stuck it thru one of the holes, made sure I got the underside of the hood and the mat. Let both dry until just tacky, and pushed it together, lasted 3 years now.

Yeah I cut a hole in mine were it would sag and now it's Eli up by the shaker trim so idk. 3m is definitely a solution or swapping it as well.

We thought of drilling a hole in and adding another plastic thing and we tried 3m tape it it wouldn't stick to the cover sadly. It is fully painted underneath, dirty as hell, but fully painted underneath so I could take it off. it would just add yet another area that I would have to clean regularly. LOL
