Angry 2006 Mustang GT Roof Bubbles

Thought I'd share this lovely bit of news with all of you. Remember how the stock hoods started to bubble and rust on the 2005-2007's? Well my roof has started to do the same thing. So everyone check theirs and keep an eye out. Not a whole lot I can do about it, I can't replace the roof like I did the hood

Your roof is steel not aluminum like the hood so the only way that can happen is if it got chipped and water got underneath and rusted it.

Yes, that's true it's steel not aluminum but the rust bubble I have isn't from a chip, it came from underneath all by itself. I have a rust bubble caused by a chip in a different spot on the roof and you can see the difference. I only used the hood as an example since so many had troubles with them and am hoping this is only an isolated case and not everyone will have the same issue. Just wanted to give a heads up.

The hood issue isn't limited to 05-07s. My '08 is rusting badly.

There are several theories as to what causes it. Most people say it occurs by those plastic trim pieces running along the roof, parallel to the doors/windows

I have heard of this issue too. mostly as james said already along the rails in the roof and around the edges.. It seems random with our cars unlike the hoods that everyone seems to have...

I hope it doesnt get worse for you Cindy.

metallic paint is more prone to rust than solid due to the metal flake in it... might it just be the clear on the paint is not protecting and the paint itself is rusting?
