Question 2006 mustang wrench light on, car in limp mode

I have a 2006 V-6 convertable. This morning a "wrench" icon light lit up on my dash by the tach. The car seems to be running a little ruff at times. When I shut the car off and re-started it the light was off and car ran normal. Does anyone know what the light is for and how to fix it?

limp mode. scan the car and see what the code is. that will lead you to what the problem was...

mine did that the other day. scanned it. no codes. running fine now..

This is what the manual says about the wrench light:

Electronic throttle control: Illuminates when the engine has defaulted to a ’limp-home’ operation. Report the fault to a dealer at the earliest opportunity.

I would get this checked out ASAP. You don't want to take a chance with the throttle control...

ehhh. could also be other things too... air or fuel management etc... it is a good idea to have it scanned though. autozone will do it for free fyi..

or if you have a tuner/scanner you might be able to find some codes or a code with that too..

You guys were all right, the car had two codes, P0102 Mess air flow sensor and a P2135 throttle control position sensor. I replaced the MAF sensor and ordered the other one and will get it tis afternoon. Auto Zone is great the guy came out hooked up there test thing and got the codes went in got the part he had and even installed it. Got to love them.... Thank you for all your help.

glad the guys could help you. a check engine light could be anything, a wrench is only related to the throttle body. I keep a spare TPS handy just incase i run into issues.
