Default 2007 Ford Mustang GT Convertible J&M Lower Control Arms (LCA's) installed

Installation of J&M Lower Control Arms on a 2007 Ford Mustang GT Convertible

All in all it was a very straight-forward mod and not that complicated to do. Just jack the car up, remove the tires, remove the e-brake and slide the cable between the stock LCA (it just had a little tab on it you pulled off then you could pull the ebrake out), then remove the 2 monstrous bolts and reverse the procedure to install the J&M ones. They saved a couple pounds of weight as well, i couldn't believe the weight of the stockers when i felt them off the car for the first time. On a side note i had all kinds of metric sockets but all of the sets stopped at 17 MM and you guessed it, i needed an 18 MM to get the bolts out so i had to make a trip to the hardware store before i could complete install. I also would have preferred to be able to use air powered tools because 129 ft/lbs or torque was not fun to do while i had about an inch of room to get my hands in and zero leverage. I ended up using my leg and some leverage to get the last few clicks of the bolts tightened down.

I was given (early christmas gift) the red powdercoated ones so they look cool and match my calipers which need a fresh coat of paint come the springtime.

I haven't driven extensively on them yet since i was busy helping my gf study for finals but the driving i did do, i will say this, you HAVE to buy a set of LCA. they made such an amazing difference in the feel, especially around the corners. I have no more of that wheel hop if i accelerate hard around a 90 degree turn, its smooth with traction all the way. I assume i'll go through tires a little more but thats a small price to pay, these things are fantastic and only cost $115 brand new from the retail store, probably under $100 if you hunt around on E-bay.

*short version*

buy them and install them, its a must. you will love them. They make a great feel on the road and give you a more firm feel when taking corners
