Default 2007 mustang gt500 gauge cluster in a 2005 mustang gt

Hey everyone, so my 2005 GT's gauge cluster has completely gone one me, at first is was the RPM gauge then the gas and all the others and finally the MPH. So I have read on the internet about taking GT500 gauge clusters and putting them in a GT. Freehold Ford says I can order it from them but will not say yes or no to installing it or actually flashing it so I have all my info on it. The GT500 cluster is the same price as the GT so why not get the better looking one and also the RPM and MPH are flipped. If anyone has any tips or knows of anyone who can do this conversion for me let me know.

Does your car have 4 factory gauges or 6? If it only has 4 you have to pull the blank panel off over the radio on the left. If there is a plug under the dummy panel then yes you can do it.

If you do have the 4 gauges and have the plug you will also need the selector switch that goes in place of the dummy panel.

The only thing that won't work on the cluster is the boost gauge. I don't believe Ford can program it into the PCM. It's a GT500 only thing. About programming it I have a Saleen cluster in mine and it went in no issues. I didn't have my info transferred to it though. Some people say they had it done for $75. I called 2 dealerships and they said they can try but no guarantee it will work as wanted to charge $106. hope this helps.

Yes helps a bit, as far as the boost I am not currently worried about that working, although if I do any major performance upgrades such as supercharger would I be able to use it or do you still think just for the GT500?

I'm not 100% sure but all the people I've seen do the swap were never able to get it working. I believe there is a special sensor and parameter in the GT500 PCM only. It's no big deal just 1 gauge that doesn't work. If you have any other questions lmk.

Thanks a lot, and its honestly not that big of a deal, I have been driving with a messed up gauge system for a year or so now. The only thing that worked correctly was the MPH and the notification section down on the bottom right corner. Sucks not having a job, thought about selling my baby but that thought quickly went away.

here's the thing.......the only way to do it is through Ford....I was told by multiple sources when I attempted to do it....the cost is around $600 with a core refund of $300 once you send them back your other cluster......your miles has to "burned" on the new cluster to match.....you could drive it without it but if you go to sell it, it would be a good idea.

Reason why I know this is because I wanted to upgrade to the MyColor Cluster.....so far I haven't done it because the one connection I had to do the swap with from some Ford dealership in the mid-east has been on medical leave for a while.

Here's the guy's contact if you want to reach out to him, I may try it again this winter since my car is just sitting and his turn around time is pretty fast.

Some guys now claim towards the end of the post that dealers are reflashing them for people so you may be able to go that way.

Its a very cool swap cause the GT500 cluster has the Red,white, blue settings for the My Color.

Its doable and i've never seen a non-GT500 able to get the boost gauge to work, its something no one can do.

As for the gauge swap, just make nice friends with someone or heck, keep your original one, and just add the miles of it to the accumulated miles on the GT500 one, simple Math.
