You can also check out the BDP Cold Air Kits. It uses the C&L plastic tube and shield, we just added our own mass air meter, to allow the installation without the need of a tune. They fit 2005-2009 S197 4.6 Mustangs.
Go to
http://www.bigdaddyperformance.com then click on power induction cold air kits icon. The price shown on the site is wrong, the kits are currently on sale.

We developed this kit because every S197 customer who installed a so called "no tune required kit" that came in just to get a dyno to see how much power they had, ended up either getting a tune because the fuel trims were damn near pinned (LTFT +22%) and the a/f was still at 13.5 to 14:1, or simply just put the stock air box back on.

If you are going to do a custom tune anyway, you can still use the BDP kit just certain parameters must be left stock in the tune. Or you can use other aftermarket kits such as the Steeda, JLT, or Ford Racing.

I guess that bdp one would be nice if you didnt intend to ever get a tune.

Where does the maf come from? BDP definitley has a better reputation in my eyes than most other places, but id be worried about changing to an aftermarket maf for no reason.

That was the main market. However, if the customer wishes, a custom tune can be done, its just not required. The meters are made and calibrated by PMAS. Its a 95mm housing, that comes with an adapter harness to be a direct plug n play. It doesn't use a slot style like the factory it uses the 2002-2004 6pin rectangular plug MAF like a Lightning or Cobra.

In developing this kit, we found that the power gains advertised from a cold air and tune were mainly from the cold air kit itself via bigger air inlet tube and most importantly larger open element air filter...not the tune. I can explain more about that at a later time...
