Default exhaust question

hey, i have Bassani Race axle backs on my car now, for christmas i was thinking of gettting the hi-flow catted magnaflow tru x pipe to compliment it, although i'm purchasing it more for the sound above anything i've read before that even just a cat back will give you power, so how much (or any/or if any) is gained from hi flow cats and an x pipe ?

thanks

It is more of a sound difference than a power one. It will give you a slight power gain but probably nothing too noticeable.

if an O/R pipe only nets you about 10 rwhp, i cant imagine that the stock cats are that restrictive. high flow cats might add a few ponies prob something like 2 or 4.... same with underdrive pulleys... 10 hp tops but that being said, 5 hp here... 10 hp here... another 5 here... it all adds up.

thanks, that's what i figured. i was just curious as to previously seeing claims of 14 lb ft of torque and 10 hp (i believe if i remember correctly) from the magnaflow magnapack catback with the stock H and cats on.

I'm not sure where/how they get those numbers... I think they run factory tune with the factory pieces, then tune "for the exhast" after installation, so that power is coming from the tune not the product

I don't think changing the cats and midpipe would do much for power unless you start adding headers... but yes, you should get a nice sound...

Just remember with an x-pipe u gain hp but lose torque compared to an H-pipe.
