Default Has anyone had this problem?

Hi everyone,
I have a 2006 v6. This problem only seems to happen when I'm at work so I'm not sure what's causing it. Occasionally, when I go to start my car, it will start beeping (inside the car and outside) really quick, until I let go of the key (I actually set someone's car alarm off when this happened a couple weeks ago). I thought maybe it had something to do with my anti-theft system because I'm not starting it any differently than I do any other time and it only happens in the one location. After the beeping, if I wait a couple minutes before shifting into drive it's totally fine, but if I try to shift right away after the beeping it will do it again as I start to drive away but then it stops. Has anyone ever had this happen? It doesn't happen all the time, but enough that I'm a little concerned.

- Kaitlyn

could be something in the area has the same frequency since you say only happens at work?

is it the stock anti theft or an aftermarket system?

that is weird?

also could be that your door switch isnt making contact all the time letting you know that the door is open,if so does your dash have the door ajar on the computer system not sure if your year had that option?

I don't think it's the door, that icon never lights up when it happens...there's been times I haven't closed the door all the way and could definitely tell even without the light....

It's a stock anti-theft system. I was trying to look in the manual about it but couldn't really find anything about it.

my question is how you set off someone's alarm is it because of the sound?

are all your lights coming on before you turn the key on the dashboard?

Yeah, the beeping from my car set off the other car's alarm.

I haven't noticed all the lights coming on, but if it happens again I'll watch for it...

That is weird. I drove a '99 V6 for over a decade and never encountered anything like this.

It had just about every other problem imaginable over that time period though

MAY be a problem with your airbag sensor. Is the airbag sensor on your dash coming on at all or flashing longer than usually at start up??

I don't really have any way of taking a video of it (non functioning camera, no video on my phone right now...what do you think it is anyway?

To be honest I haven't really noticed if there is anything lighting up on the dash, usually it freaks me out and I let go of the key and just want to get out of there (car honking/beeping while you're sitting in it = embarassing). If it happens again I will make sure to look.

Ive heard a few issues with the pats system and the active antitheft on these cars going a little haywire and causing something along these lines
