Default headers

Hey I'm looking to put a set of shorty headers on my stock 05GT. I have heard a lot of good things about BBK but I'm not sure if that's the way to go or not. Can anyone fill me in if they are a good choice or not? Thanks

I prefer JBA or Kooks. But if I had a GT I would skip the shorties and get some LTs

Long tube Kooks are the way to go.

shortys arent worth the time and hassel. you're better off saving and doing long tubes

BBK for the S197 is terrible quality IMO. I'd never buy anything BBK or GMS. Not saying they stink or something, just too many bad stories i've heard.

And LT's will give you inspection trouble i believe. But keep this in mind:

LT's and shorties are approx the same price for install since they both require the same steps. with Shorties you don't need to buy a new mid-pipe which can be good or bad depending on what you wanna do.
They will both look better than the rusty stock manifolds.

LT's will give you gains anywhere from 12-18 HP, shorties anywhere from 0-5.

LT's will decrease your boost slightly if you go F/I, shorties will actually help you realize more power with F/I

well you car is still stock otherwise right?.. I've always heard that headers are the last thing you should do on these cars, and even then the gains are barely worth more than the sound. That said, I'll agree with what most here are saying, if you're putting new tubes on, go with longtubes.

i had no trouble getting my '95 inspected with LT's (not sure how they effect the emmisions on these cars though)

'Jim

I think he is saying you would fail because most people run O/R pipes which would be emissions, but noise too probably.
