Here is why you need a new one. The stock manifolds are short and have a long midpipe (stock is H pipe). Longtubes are long and require a shorter midpipe then your stock one. So if you get longtubes you have to replace both the headers and the midpipe. Midpipes come in X or H pipe.

As for brand, get Kooks, SLP or American Racing. Preferably get them jet hot coated. You will need a tune for the longtubes fyi, and its a very involved install

$600 is a great price.

I'm going with SLPs, mostly because they're right in Toms River and I can go pick them up right there where they're TIGing them up. I've been through their place, have lots of their products already and have never been disappointed.

If anyone wants SLP parts, let me know. I'm going to go over there and talk to my friend in sales. We are just moving into our new shop and I should probably become a dealer.

I would also go with cats. It's just a personal thing, but I don't find ANY reason to run OR pipes on the street. There's (nearly) no performance gain to be had, and it's just irresponsible. It's a small thing we can all do to help the environment.

Heck, I have a set of Random Tech high flows that are going on the '65 before it gets back on the street. It's not reuired, but I do'nt see any reason to not run them.

Yes OP, if you go with LT's youll need to run a shorter midpipe.. KOOKs makes some really nice stuff. I've also ehard good things with American Racing Headers.

What size are you going with?

Yes I know I want to run cats. Is it better to go for the x or stay with an h? As far as what size, Im really not sure. Whatever will fit best on my car. I bought my sct tuner through brenspeed and their deal is that they give you a free tune if you buy your parts through them. On their site they have a lot of BBK. Should I not be looking to run BBK?
