Default High Flow Cats on A S197 V6

I posted a similar thread about this on mustang forums and have gotten mix responses, many say "they sound like sh*t on a v6" and others say they sound good.

What does everyone else think? I've personally heard them on a new edge v6 and they sound great!

I couldn't find that many videos on utube of a V6 with high flows.

If you recommend them, which are the best, and good vs worst to avoid?

Magnaflow High Flows are probably an option. I know my pipes are 2.25 and not 2.5 from what I've read too.

Nah dude I'd stay away from them. I haven't heard anything positive in regards to sounding good. Spend your money on something better...

High flow cats are a waste of time. It is actually a huge myth that the "high flow" models vastly outflow stock. I can't remember exactly which magazine it was or how long ago, but one of the rags did a shoot out of a bunch of cats, both stock and aftermarket and found that the stock 3inch cats off of a GM truck out flowed the aftermarket "high flow" models.

honestly its just kinda a marketing ploy to me. Which would you rather buy, "Hi-flow cats" or "stock cats"? the answer is obvious. Hi flow cats are included in the aftermarket pipes because of fitment problems mainly. Nothing wrong with the stockers, they flow just fine

Your next performance mod should be something like a cam

You already got xpipe and mufflers, so just do headers instead of cats... performance and sound. Modern cats are just fine on the flow. You can also get headers heat wrapped.

true, probllem is thats extremely pricey to do and not like I have a lift that I can swap the headers out myself.... I defintiely don't like the rusted look of my stock ones, but then again there's the whole issue around shorties being pointless....but if they do make the car sound louder then its an option.

The other question is, who can swap out my headers for a good price and what are the best ones, a good future mod.
