Im sure your clutch is ok. My X-Charger hasn't even made my stocker slip yet and I beat the crap out of it. I do spin the tires a lot and it does something like you explained, but never in high gears....Try resetting the computer if this continues. Sounds fishy to me. And I don't know what the heck a power surge is...that just may be Toyota terms haha

Yeah, you definitely need to change your tire size in your tuner. Should help.

gonna cost a grand
