The 4R70W is alright but a J-Mod would make it even better, which I am considering doing.
I checked out an aftermarket pan that holds 3 more quarts of fluid and has a dipstick too. This will be my next mod. Then a stall converter. Hoping for low to mid 12's.

So in the end I ended up buying the kit (160 bones) but if you could weld a box up you could make it yourself. for you v6 guys you might be good with an off the shelf generic unit from jegs being that you have a little more room in the engine compartment.

Next meet I am at I would like to look under your hood Jonathan. That will give me a better idea if I could fabricate a less costly kit for you.

Once I get the kit installed (hope this weekend / I have it mounted already but need to get the car in the air to install the vent hose and I am quite sore still from riding this weekend) I will snap some detailed pics. I will have it in by the time the RT23 Show happens for sure so you guys can check it out there.
oooo thanks. I'm curious to see if mind is spewing out somewhere as well....with 3.73s I don't think I could possibly not drive my car to hard lol

it stalls the coverter to only work above a certain rpm. so launches the car only above whatever rpm the stall converter is set at. it has clutches inside it that only release at a specified rpm. ideal for drag racing. the idea is to get the stall converter to release power to the transmission when the car is at its peak rpm allowing for maximum power to the wheels.

if you get on it like it is nobody's biz quite a few times in a row (read 90 percent of us lol) it probably is... most guys i know with auto's that have gears, power adders or manually shift there car have the problem.

the trans works on optimum fluid levels and i have heard that they are a tad low right out of the factory so losing any fluid will eventually terminate your tranny.

Here is TCI write up on torque converters....

http://www.tciauto.com/Products/Tech..._explained.asp

The biggest killer of auto trans is heat...also the slipping between gear shifts...

Bigger trans coolers are a must if you are beating the crap out of your trans.

Also firming up ur shifts..with newer trans..its all in the programing...

Sorry to high jack....

Thanks Tripod. That explains it very well.

The GT already has 2 trans coolers. Not sure about the V6.

Heat kills these quick so having more fluid (hence the larger pan) and not losing fluid is key.
