Default Looking for the best sound for me V6

Basically I understand that I can never get my humble V6 to sound like a V8 but I can give it a pretty good growl for a V6 The best sounds I've heard so far are either the SLP loudmouths or the MRT Aero Tubine mufflers. Does any other members with a V6 have any experience with any of these? Right now I have the Pypes true dual X-pipe system with GT take offs. Also I have a question about conversion kits. Whats the difference between the pypes and all the others that are out there like FRPP, The MAC, The Flowmaster or the MagnaFlow systems.

I know I'm asking a lot.

First off, what year stang? There are guys on here with 6's that sounds friggin amazing. Of all years too... Tareq has a great sounding 98 3.8L, Jon has his 05 4.0 sounding badass, and Alex has an '11 v6 that crackles like crazy.

I had the MRTs....they were nice and deep, a little raspy, I upgraded to the FRRP KR500 Mufflers and they have outlasted every other set (i've had many for the same reason as you in trying to get a decent sound out of my V6 and I think I finally did.)

Some videos: (hopefully they help)

Dual MRTs on the Dyno:

FR500 Mufflers and XPipe

This is what it sounds like on the dyno with the above setup:

and another

Finally, this is my current setup: KR500 Mufflers - FRRP Xpipe and JBA Headers (Xpipe welded in place made a difference over just being clamped together) I noticed that too

Hopefully that helps you decide, I noticed a better sounding setup from what I have now and it's also constructed better. One of the MRT muffler hangers broke off prematurely with under 5k of driving them I think.....thankfully I had a friend fix it locally.

I have the Pypes true dual conversion as well. Next year I will be looking for a different muffler set up. Only had the conversion for 3.5 months and already it's too quiet, LOL. Let me know what you decide on!

I won't recommend going with the SLPs, I have pypes true dual X and pypes violator mufflers and was thinking of goin with the SLPs but good thing I didn't, they sound great on a v8 but sound really raspy like an import on a v6 specially with an x-pipe, the pypes violators sound great or the KR500s like Jon's setup and get a Cai and a tune if u don't have already that affects the exhaust tone too

@Jon thanks so much for the clips. I really appreciate all the advice from everyone. I already have a CAI and Bama tunes for life. I also currently have the Pypes True dual system with GT take offs. They are great but too quiet. Jon is the first person in any of the forums to suggest that welding helps with the sound instead of just leaving everything bolt on. But now i have another question. What is the difference between Shorty headers vs. Long tube headers.

Had lots of mods planned but the recession hit so right now Im on the sidelines till I cant get picked up by a new team so to speak. Just trying to plan my foot forward.
