Default O5 Radio Issues

So I have been trying to get my shaker 1000 subs & amps in the trunk to work. I bought the car used 3 months ago. Well today we finally ripped the head unit & trunk apart.

Here is what we found. The sub & amp in the trunk is factory, however when we yanked out the head unit the sticker on the side with the part number and the part number that the head unit flashes does not match at all. The sticker on the side's part number is for a shaker 1000 head unit, however the number that flashes on the screen when you push the diagnostic mode is for a 500. None the less, we are confused. How could this be, happen?!?!

Anyone have any ideas?

Oh and to further add to the pisser of the day, I noticed that my hood has the paint bubble issues. I wonder if my extended warranty will cover it?!?!

That's very interesting....looks like someone swapped it out, can you point that out to the place you bought it from?......underhood bubble issue is very common...I have it too sadly....I believe these hoods are the cause of it so it may happen again or not but worth trying to get it painted.

And you're ok with it? Mine is starting to wrap around to the outer hood so you can see it now. That's not OK. I wouldn't be as upset if it was just underneath the hood.

Hmm that's very strange.

Yeah I have no solution for it, my hood was cut plus I'm out of warranty so I'll probably upgrade in the future. Mine hasn't started to bubble on the visible side yet so that's interesting

Well, you would have to really look to see mine on the outside. It's on bottom lip of the hood, but now that I know it's there. I'm hoping my extended warrenty will cover it.

And on the radio, I see that you can buy the face plate alone. I am starting to think this is what the previous owner did. Maybe he had issues with the radio and swapped out the faceplate and got the wrong one.

Anyone know if the electronic functionality is in the Face plate for these radios?

Does anyone know if a shaker 1000 head unit from an 07 will work in my 05 with the shaker 1000?

So, I am still working on getting my radio fixed. The backlighting on the buttons & shaker on/off option is not working in my s 1000 unit. I called my local dealer today to ask how much it would cost to have the head unit reprogramed and they said they don't do it. Now, I have been googling and reasearching this any many people have said they took it to the dealers and had it reprogrammed and then the back lights worked and options on the radio worked that didn't before. Each radio has a chip in it that holds the information for the radio to work, and what I found is that if your radio was replaced and they did not reprogram it, things don't work correctly.

Anyone have an experience with this?
