Default Shorty Headers for 2005-09 Ford Mustang Gt 4.6 Engines?

I know long tubes are better and there are only small hp gains from shorty headers but does anybody have shorties on their 2005-2009 Mustang 4.6? Do they work? Sound alot different? Any feedback is good feedback!!!!!

You know you just beat me on this topic for the 4.0s, was thinking about it after a good friend of mine did it....definitely go for the best if you do....I'd do longtubes if I didn't have to rework my whole exhaust.

Long tubes or nothing, Shorty header's won't give you any gain minimal if that like kevin said. Its been proven on plenty of mustangs, that long tubes give you the best buck for headers, Its even better if you have a full exhaust.

One thing shortys do is up your torque. which isnt bad if you dont have FI. I put shortys on my car way back and noticed a lil something regardless. LT headers do gain you more power. Im upgrading to kooks LT.

well if anything, depending on how hard the swap is, I'm doing it for cosemtic appeal to improve my engine bay for the car shows, tired of my rusted looking heads....and with the other additions to that area, I have to up the appearance a bit.

Anyone know how had it would be to swap the headers on my v6?

Shorties will give you a 2-3 gain, not much. HOWEVER they will look a heck of a lot better than the rusted stock manifolds so if you do a lot of shows, you may get points for having shorties. Install is almost as much of a pita as the Long tubes are though, so install cost is still high

A full exhaust gains you about 15 HP give or take assuming you run LT's and no cats, but the price per HP ratio is terrible.

MM&FF just did a stock vs. shorty vs. long tube test.. didn't read the article yet, but it might be worth looking into.
