Question Swapping Bumper from V6 to GT on a 2007 Ford Mustang 4.0

Hi I wanted to know if anyone has done a v6 front bumper swap to a gt bumper. My car was recently backed into while I was at work so from the money I am receiving I purchased a GT bumper. How difficult is removing the old bumper and installing the new bumper. Also is there any other parts that I will need other than the upper and lower grille and gt mounting brackets?

takes about 2 hours. Its a very easy swap. Grills, bumper and foglights and you're set! Its about 6-8 rivet bolts in the fender liner, 3 bolts holding the bracket from bumper to fender, and a few screws on the lower air damn under the radiator.

Helps to have a 2nd hand to keep it level and such since its a bulky yet light fascia

I actually just did this not too long ago, because I got hit at school. No idea who did it, the person bolted, and I didn't find the damage til I got out of a long lecture class. So I kinda know how you feel!

My dad did the swap for me, mainly cause I don't have experience with that kinda stuff. It didn't take long at all - maybe a few hours, but he was also replacing my fender too. I got the GT grille, fogs, and bumper. It bolts up pretty well, and make sure you have fog extensions, or a harness that will reach cause I know that had to be done with mine. Other than that, make sure you have an extra set of hands Also, you might want to eventually get new fender well liners, the v6 ones don't line up exactly. I'll be doing that at some point too.

Yes, GT mounting brackets? I used the same ones that were on my v6. You nay neednew fender lines since v6 ones are different.

Thanks for the advice everyone, ill definitely have my friend help me out then. Jonathan I just though i needed to buy different mounting brackets because I was talking to a guy at the local auto body shop near my house and he said that he did a swap for a v6 recently before I bought my car in for an estimate but I guess he was just trying to get some extra money then or just wanted to make sure it fit. But thank you for that piece of information now I can save some money and time.

Hey not a problem. I'll probably be taking mine off this weekend or the next to do a mod so if you haven't done yours by then, I'll take pictures of the process and post it up.

Thumbs up

I think the bumper hasn't even shipped out yet so if you do take yours off I would definitely appreciate pictures. Thanks

Oh ok perfect, I may just be able to do it tomorrow morning since my graduation isn't until night and I have nowhere to drive the Mustang this weekend so watch out for a thread if I get a chance to do it tomorrow.
