Default tci shifter is sticking in park

i just got the tci shifter from american muscle. it works great but I noticed that i can shut the car off in drive and pull the key out. is this because it is an after market shifter or did i do something wrong on the install?

not 100 percent familiar with the setup but if i remember correctly the tci eliminates the key lockout and you can pull the key anytime

It is normal. u can pull the key out if the car is shut off in any gear. you cant pull the key out if the car is in gear and on.

I have had the shifter for a long time and it has been like that since day one. Can't you do that with the factory shifter as well? I think you can as you needed to have the car in Neutral to install and the car was off and I removed the key...
