Default Time for a Speaker upgrade.

I am looking to upgrade the sound system in the car. Unfortunately I cannot buy a head unit at this time so I will have to be content with upgrading my speaker system. I am thinking about going forward with the Kicker Component set. Does anyone have any advice about a good set of speakers? I'm looking to replace everything eventually but right now just all the speakers.

I believe Pioneer made a nice set that fit right in our doors and on the rear panel....I almost invested in it when I swapped to my Pioneer Avic D3 unit but that alone made all the difference.....factory speakers are actually pretty good, they just need better controlling which any aftermarket unit gives you.

Anyone have any problem with the driver side Kicker speaker going in an out as if there is a short somewhere?
