Default Wipers stopped working

I took off the cowl and the motor is running, but the transmission/crank arms came off the motor nub..
How does the crank secure to the wiper motor nub...its a small rectangular stub that the crank fits on, but it fits on flat w/no visible way to secure..
I am assuming the securing piece fell off...

Anyone ever have this happen?

Maybe this might help..?wiper1.pdf
If I'm not mistaken, that shaft from the motor should have a threaded hole where a washered bolt goes down and holds the arm on...if I'm not mistaked :-)

OK
I checked it out, and it seems the part that I am talking about is part of the "transmission" assembly and that fits over the motor....I have to buy the entire assembly in order to fix...it doesnt even show a connector, but the piece connected to the part in question as one piece, so it must have broken off...I thought differently, this is gonna save me a world of guessing.
That was very helpful thank you very much!!
