Question Does anyone have a solution for removing water stains from glass?

I am having a hard time removing some water stains from the glass on my Cobra. I have spots all over the back glass and some on the passenger side.

I've tried all sorts of window cleaners, scrubbed the glass hard when washing, always try to dry as quickly as possible - and I have not been able to remove them (yet).

Someone on another forum suggested very fine #000 steel wool - but I'm very leary about touching "metal" to glass, as I don't need or want any scratches... I've heard of vinegar, but, does it really work (and I don't want my car stinking like a bottle of vinegar either)?

I don't have any of the spots on the clearcoat (body) - it's just the glass surface.

What have some of you done or used to remove water spotting? Will Bonami work?

I wouldnt use steel anything on glass if i were you, try to dry it with a crumpled newspaper and glass cleaner (windex) but dont get any on the paint, give that a try if u havnt done so, and dont wash or clean the glass under the sun

Advanced has a glass cleaner called glass plus (I think)

Anyway, you'll see it there. It is much better then Windex. I am nit sure is it will take out the water stains,

Have you tried to clay the glass yet? A little detail spray and a clay bar might do it!

Hmmm... never thought of actually compounding, polishing or waxing the glass.. LOL

I have clayed my vehicle before - never the glass though... another good thought, I'll have to see if it works...

As for glass cleaners, I always use Stoner's Glass Cleaner (works excellent) and is one of the best out there for cars... it's not helping any though. I have also used Windex, Glass Plus, Eagle 20/20, and some others I can't remember product names of at the moment.

I'm going to check out that link too!

Thanks!

Always clay your glass. Then use a polish if necessary. DON'T WAX YOUR GLASS! Then use a good glass cleaner and glass sealant. Like this one. It is fabulous!

Just looked a Eddie's link on getting rid of water stains. It said exactly what I wrote above. Clay, polish and sealant. And yes don't forget the wipers too.
