Talking Some new pictures

Been messing with long exposures...Still trying to figure it out lol...

I've put these in the order I took them so you can see how I've improved the shots. This first one is of my friends Tiburon (yeah i know a hyundai in the mustang threads lol)... This was one of my first attempts at long exposure shooting.

It would have been an amazing picture with teh stars if it was clear. But I hadn't quite gotten it down yet...I was mainly just trying to figure out the lighting. Not to worried about the way the actual view looks yet.

Next is my car in pretty dim light (mostly just the moon). Just took these a few minutes ago.

And the last picture of the day that came out the best but still too dark...And that's the moon, not the sun.

Note: I am using a canon Powershot SX10IS on a tripod and using my iPhone's flash (lol) as a backlight.

Shooting in manual mode with settings varying around this:

Shutter: 15"
fstop:4.0
iso:400
flash:some

No, I have no idea what the 2 middle ones mean but I do what I can with trial and error lol. I am by no means a pro.

I would appreciate any tips on how to brighten these up a bit and keep them clear (or clearer) at the same time.

And now here are some other pictures:

My friends Tib again:

My other friends mustang (user name Areale93) didn't realize these were grainy till I got home... I'll get more soon. :

And my car in proper light after some fun lol:

Moar pics to come soon. Going to try and go every night as long as it's nice out. I WILL get this down haha. Anyone who want's to join me for pictures or just to hang out is welcome. It's kinda creepy out there alone at 11pm lol.

very nice man, I have to hangout with you guys soon and get some sweet pictures.......have to run up to the GW Bridge park and take some up here in different lighting....I live near it and never get the chance....some sunrise or sunset pictures would look pretty good there too

Definitely man it's fun, especially when I actually get the settings right lol.

Pictures at the GW bridge would definitely be nice but long exposures would be tough late at night. You need to be in a relatively secluded place for it to work. Otherwise the light pollution washes it out :/

Definitely! that's a cool pic as it is man. do you know where the sun would be setting? so you could find a spot to park where you'd get the bridge and the sunset in the shot as well

thanks, sadly it sets on the other side of that big mountain so sunrise is probably the only option there...might be able to get a few pictures of the sunset but not too much from the other side (not near the bridge)

Cool photos Matt. Are those my tire marks in the last photo? If so, I didn't realize I left such a long trail.

I could probably go out for photos with you on Friday night. I'm usually up late gaming on Fridays, but I can let that slide.

Nope those are my marks lol, yours were only about 2 feet long (had to show you up LOL). You can see the making of each in the exhaust videos I made. I might not be around friday night but I'm not sure yet, depends on work. I'll let you know though.

Ha, I was trying to get more of the sound of my exhaust than the sound of my tires squealing. Plus I didn't want the people at the open house calling the cops on us.

Let me know whenever you can about Friday - as you can see, I won't be busy.
