Question Who Wants to go Road Racing at NJMP?

Hi All,

I would like to organize a NJStanger Track Day. I've spoken with the track director at NJMP - New Jersey Motorsports Park located in Millville, NJ - and we are offered a very good deal if we can schedule something before March 1st. I am open to ideas. Late Feb may be a good idea, or very soon before it's too cold.

What does a NJStanger Track Day mean? It means we get to use a professional road course, just to ourselves, for the ENTIRE day. Pretty cool. Depending on the number of people interested, we will split into a couple of groups based on experience. There will be track time for EVERYBODY.

See NJMP's website for details. We would be on the "Lightning" track:

http://www.njmp.com

OK, this sounds cool, so how much is it? The short answer is $6K. The long answer is that it depends on how many people are interested. The more people, the less per person. For 20 people, it would be $300 per person, as an example. That is an excellent deal for an entire day at a road course.

For anyone new to road racing, it's just like Drag Racing in terms of insurance, e.g. you have none. What does that mean? It means you are solely responsible for your vehicle on the track. Your major medical - HMO, PPO, etc. - should fully cover you. I am not aware of any that do not, but check if needed.

With that out of the way, there is nothing like driving your own car on a road course. Even if you never tried it, I guarantee you love it. I don't mean I guarantee it with money - just a disclaimer. It's an awesome experience that every Mustang owner should have at least once, although it would be nice if we could get an annual event going...

What do you guys think? Does it sound like fun? Do we have 15 - 20, or more folks interested in racing their own car? Please feel free to PM me. I will answer all posts.

- Spencer

With the wifes permission, I'm down.....I'd like to see 30 peeps = $200 each....I think this could be a realistic number......I have run the roadcourse @ homestead and sc motorsports park.....While drag racing is fun, nothing beats a full on track...It will make you a better driver on the street

I'm interested, only if my V6 can compete with these high power beasts lol. It does have a sweet Roush Trak Pack suspension I've been meaning to fully try out.

30 would be great! That would be very cool.

Since I've been road racing, I've become a much better street driver. After some track time though, driving on the street is painful.

Power is only a small part of racing. A V6 with a good suspension will beat a more powerful V8 with a stock suspension. Look at a Lotus. An Exige is about 200 hp, but it only weighs 1,800 lbs.
