I am looking for an affordable used suv for my sister, she will need it for September to commute to college. It will be under my name with her listed as a driver so it can't be a sports car for now, even though I want to get her into a mustang convertible....(and I know she'd want one too).

So my options for her, since she wants a "small car" are to consider some small SUVs, that are still safe and have some appeal to her.

My goal is to get her one under 80k miles, would prefer under 65k or so. The lower the better. Clean Carfax (No roll back, accidents, etc.) In terms of cars? She'd probably go for bright colors like red or blue, may even consider other colors, but if the mileage and price and condition of the SUV is good, that's all that will matter.

Her #1 Pick Now:

She saw a Surf Blue Pearl 2010 and loved it but it definitely has to be a used one for now and I don't think that color was made in previous years or at least I haven't seen it.

I think between the years of 03-07 Wrangler (prefers Sahara, Rubicon, or any other model besides the basic one) with somewhat decent low miles, around 50k in good shape, with clean interior and exterior....has to auto since she hasn't had a chance to play with manuals yet. I think she also liked the hard top with the soft top option with A.C. and CD Player. *Full Doors* as well.







Some Options: "Leather, Sunroof, Heated Seats, CD Player, etc."

Nope.. Its not listed anywhere. Its a blue 01 Sport 4x4 4.0 v-6, no leather.

well actually the miles are not gonna be what you need.. I just spoke to him.. 150k.
But he's willing to part with it for less than half of some of the cars you posted so it may be worth a look...

dont get a grand cherokee they have so many problems mainly with the transmissions. the explorer sports are the same with transmission and after 100k everything just starts to fall apart on them. if you are going for a jeep get her a wrangler or a cherokee with the I6, it will run FOREVER. escapes are nice very few problems if any at all. i picked up my 99 cherokee for 4800 after sales tax with 64k miles on it

oh yeah man too much for her.....thanks though. I have a few months to find her something.....as long as I am able to find her something by July so she has 2 months to drive around and get use to it, that would be fine.

Thanks for the input....put that in the other thread so I can keep that in mine. I definitely didn't think those 2 had problems like that....

Escape would be good but they are just so overpriced still....older version may be an option as well.

yup grand cherokees are lucky to make it passed 80k miles with the stock transmission. i dont know why they just didnt use the same one out of the cherokee, its bullet proof
