Exclamation 06 convertable motor problem

Last night I tried to put up my roof on my 2006 mustang convertable, it would not move (the interior lights dimmed when switch was activated) I went out this morning to get to the dealership and tried it again. This time the roof functioned and went up. The service tech at the dealership said that the electric motor is binding or has a "flat" spot in it. This happened one other time and same results occured. Anyone have suggestions or had same problem? I went on-line to see if I could buy a motor myself but can not locate one. The dealership wants to charge me 875.00 plus tax/labor if install it.

I'd try and find a junkyard motor and put it in yourself. I've seen my motor when i installed all my Dynamat and it looks easy enough to install tbh. I'd do some more digging before you spent that kind of cash at the dealership

Convertable motors are not usually difficult to install ive done quite a few. maybe scower ebay and see if you cvan get one there just because you could save a ton of money otherwise talk to Jon to get our dealership hook up and see what kind of price they can give you.

I think my top motor may be on it's last legs (20+ years), so I've been looking at options.

I found the following link, where the guy will refurbish your motor. http://topmotorrepair.com/

I've seen plenty of positive comments on his work on various forums.
