Default Making a Cobra an Auto

Ok before I get into any detail about what would be needed to swap the Manual gearbox in an 03/04 Cobra for an Auto. Let me just explain why I would need an Auto. It's not because I never learned or that I'm afraid of a manual, I have owned a few in the past. It is due to an injury a little over 2 years ago that has left me with almost no feeling in my left foot. So I can't feel the clutch pedal and I had to get rid of my ranger with a manual because it was pretty rough driving it after the accident. Now that is out of the way what would be needed to swap the trannies. Has this been done? can it be done and does anyone have any experience with this? I saw one on Ebay with an Auto but it is in Indiana I believe and I would never order a used car sight unseen. Would an Auto set up out of a Mach 1 hold up to the Cobra engine? And how about ant computers as well? Thanks

first off welcome to the forum. second off, plenty of drag racers have done 4r70w swaps. Its not cheap mind you, but its quite the beefy transmission.

it has been done. great things can b done with an auto. like WINNING thats automatic right. a guy i was in the service with swappd the 6 speed out for an auto in his 03 turbo Cobra, and ALL the pro racers run some form of automatic. u can use the stick car computer but i think the auto comp is a little different in the timing.

4r70 swap is very possible. if you have no intewntion of modding the car you could actually go with other options to but the biggest part would be getting a trans to work right pcm wise your pretty much forced to do a manual valve body trans or deal with extensive tuning and what not.

As of now my thinking is just to leave the car stock except for the trans swap of course and then just the exhaust and CAI. I don't really plan on using the car atthe track or any other type of racing and my buddies 04 Cobra has plenty of power as it is. And what exactly is a manual valve body trans?
