Since you actually own a Shifter and are saying it works now you're just throwing me for a loop.

It seems everyone's got a brand they swear by, and there's no definitive answer to the question:

"What's the best?"

The budget is $1000. Ticket proof this car. How would YOU do it? (any of you)

They don't make the SRX by Escort anymore...they upgraded the model...

If I were to by another fixed mounted one I'd by this one

https://www.escortradar.com/store/passport-9500ci.html

Window mount this one

https://www.escortradar.com/passport9500ix-details.php

It comes down to how much you want to spend...now people will swear by one and not another, its like Ford and Chevy.

If you go with any top of the line detector..u can't go wrong..

Escort or V1

now I love how V1 says they will pay ur speeding ticket if you get one...my question is who pays the surcharges for the next few years??????

God damn that's expensive. And probably worth it.

Much to consider.

i only use escorts in my cars... my mustang has the escort window mounted 8500 red in it, and my work van has the excort sr7 installed in the grill and rear, along with my dad who runs the sr7 in his vehicle also.. so far they all have been very good at picking up radar, just its the lasar that u cant hide from no matter what when they turn it on and off within a second

also.. found the sr7 on ebay for 300 bucks brand new, and their usually priced around 600-700. but this was atleast a year ago

I've been V1 equipped for a month or two now, incredible. It doesn't miss a bit. It's not fool proof, obviously if they hit it on and off - your going to pick it up as it hits you, but rather then that - its a great unit. It's so true, once you live with the arrows- you can't go back

I skimmed through the thread so mind me if any of this was posted.. But from a Law Enforcement point of view here is my take on radar detectors...

A radar detector is good, IF, the officer running radar decides to leave the radar running in between getting speeds of upcoming cars.. Most dash mounted radars have remotes that turn the unit off until the officer wants the speed of an approaching vehicle in which case your detector doesnt pick it up until its too late... Even for the handheld units, your detector won't pick it up until the officer pulls the trigger for your speed and like I said by the time we flipp the switch or pull the trigger for the speed its too late on your end to even slow down...

As for the radar jammers or laser jammers to be honest they may work to block out the radar but lets face it.. if your speeding down a roadway and your car is obviously no where near the speed limit even if the officer doesnt get the reading he will still pull you over based on observation and issue the summons if he wants.. you can take it to court and argue tht the officer didnt know the exact speed and you have a chance that the judge might rule in yoru favor but 90% of the time the judge rules in favor of the officer..especially if your argument is that your vehicle has a jammer lol.. so while the jammers give you a slight edge in court it wont stop an officer from stopping you.. and if the officer is pissed (some guys take it very seriously) that you tried to "get over" on him then he will circle your vehicle for ALL additional violations that you have.. and believe me.. I have seen some guys take their time circling around.. One guy was so pissed at the driver he issued for improper tire pressure.. like I said some guys take the job TOO SERIOUS..

Lastly.. When an officer approaches a vehicle and can see a radar detector on your dash it tells us one thing.. You are a speeder.. Given that all of us speed at one time.. the detector just shows that you speed often and dont care.. take it from me.. the best thing to do is hide the detector.. some guys put it up by the rearview mirror which is good spot but i would recommend getting one that is remote mounted so no one but you can see its in the car.. i believe a piece mounts in the grill somewher and another on the windshield facing the rear of the vehicle.. it is very small so no one knows its their.. then you mount the "headunit" in the dash somewhere so while driving it will light up or whatever..

Like I said.. This is just my take on radar detectors from a law enforcement point of view.. Take the advice how you want.. Some guys will brush it off while others might put it to use.. Just be careful out there and use common sense.. Most officers are very cool about things and will give breaks.. Just be polite if getting pulled over.. Its never a good idea for a driver to start the stop with "why aer you pulling me over".. just dont argue with the officer.. its gets you no where... Also take into consideration the speed limit of the roadway you are on.. If you are in a 35mph zone dont do more then 50.. I am usually good with a 15mph cushion.. but some guys use a 10mph cushion.. it also depends on the roadway.. is it an empty highway or a side street in a school zone... just use common sense... We arent out there to F' people over but issuing tickets is part of our job.. so when you get stopped really think about who is to blame.. its not the officers fault that you are gettign stopped.. you did something to get pulled over...

Man that was very in detail, I to know this because I have close Hudson County cop friend. Good to know stuff like that works. I purely really on judgment and leave my crazy driving out for the country side with open roads....that's if I even do anything crazy, I just try to control myself as hard as I just like pushing the gas pedal....personally I just love the acceleration the most, not into the whole speeding thing.

I agree you are just doing your job to make sure people are safe, won't believe how many crazy people i see on the roads sometimes and I just wish I could pull them over but I'm not a cop lol. :P

The 2 times I actually got pulled over I know it was my fault but that's been over 2 years ago and I hope to keep it like that.

Respect the officer and being polite goes a long way. Knock on wood i havent got a ticket since i started driving but have got pulled over. All the times i was pulled over i was polite and respectful and got let off with a warning. Also the times i got pulled over was for going maybe 10 mph over the speed limit leave the speed to the track lol
