Default Radar detectors and stuff

So since I'm getting my car back someday and my last radar detector was in the '89, I need a new one.

I'm leaning toward the Valentine 1, but the Escort has some really, really cool accessories...

I wouldn't be buying both the Escort and the Shifter in one shot ($950 is too steep) but I would buy with the intention of getting both at some point in the future, IF IT'S WORTH IT.

I want what works. If the Escort is a crap radar detector, I won't buy it.

I know the V1 is good, that's a "safe" bet.

Anyone running an Escort? Or anything else? What's worth buying?

(This is not a legality thread. I don't care. The car isn't legal as it is)

From what I've read, the V1 is unbelievable. If I could afford it, I would've gotten that as opposed to the little Cobra I got from Best Buy(had some gift cards to use lol).

A friend of mine is getting two for his car, one mounted in the grill and one somewhere in the rear(VW Gti). While a radar detector isn't illegal, the jammers are. But as mentioned in the first post, legality is not a worry here lol.

What brand? Link?

So far it seems the one in the link I posted, the Shifter ZR4, is the best one I can find.

Go Escort, the only thing special about the other one is that it detects behind you, which my cheap Cobra one does.
