Default shifting without the clutch

ok so my dad told me that shifting without the clutch is something you feel and should be able to do once you get good with shifting, so I went ahead and tried it out for the first time today. I love it haha. All of my gears go in like butter at the right rpm, no noise, grinding or anything. Really something that might make the clutches life last a lot longer. Anyone else try this out?

It's something you get very used to especially if you have ever driven cdl trucks because the clutch doesn't really do anything in those except help you start out

yea idk about the synocros. I mean my dad used to have cars also, about fifteen yrs or so ago that were stick shift and thats all he did, he never encountered a problem with the trans.

Syncros are WAY more expen$ive to replace than a clutch. There is absolutely no advantage to doing this other than as a novelty in a fwd with a synchronized gearbox. It's much easier to do with a non syncroed box. Look at the size of the space between the dogs in a truck trans, then look at how fine the space is between the teeth of a syncro/blocker ring. They just aren't made for clutchless shifting.

Yes, i do it once in a while for fun, but never in the mustang. And trying to justify it by thinking it save clutch life is silly. A new clutch is q few hundred dollars, a new trans is a few thousand.

Use the clutch. It's there for a reason.

Yeah i have to agree with mrnoodley there it may be fun but every once in a while your gonna grind because of it and like he said a clutch is much cheaper than a tranny.
