Default Tint/revamped NJ state inspection questions

Has anybody tried to go through inspection recently with tinted front windows? From what I understand, all they are checking right now is emissons and check engine lights. I'm looking to get tint all around, but I may not do it if it is going to fail the car for inspection.

I'd like to get the rear windows tinted on my car with something like a 35% tint, and possibly a 50% on the front windows. I'm not looking for any tickets, so I think that's as dark as I want to go. Does anybody have any photos of this setup on a Mustang?

Also, does anybody know of a good and inexpensive tint shop somewhere nearby Jackson, NJ?

The tint laws are mushy to say the least. But I do know anything other than front windows and the windshield is fair game. So you could have 5% if you want on the small rear side windows and the rear window. For the driver/passenger windows i'd say 50% is fine. For the front I would personally just do a stripe.

Inspection may/will pass you. But you can still get a ticket for it. just like if you have a bulb out inspection will pass you i believe but you can still be ticketed for it.

I just tinted mine all the way around for 150. The place is in harrison nj though and should have a spot in the vendors section. They are called east coast motorsports.

So, the majority seems to be that I won't have to worry about state inspection, which is awesome. I always thought they could fail you for tint on the front windows.

Now to find a shop near Jackson.

There is a place in Red Bank/Shrewsbury that does great work, all the local cops go there to get their tint done.

The tint laws are anything but mushy. Any level of tint is allowed on windows behind the driver's head, none allowed on the windshield (other than the top few inches) or front windows.

The laws haven't changed, just what the inspection facilities are checking.

Yea I know for a fact that they will pass you with Tint. They are not checking it, they lowered man power and dont want to fail people and have them waste state time and money just for tint, they'd rather just have the cops issue tickets. Win Win for NJ
