Trusted NJ/NY Gas Stations - Getting Good Gas in NJ Area
Ok so after changing out my fuel filter I have realized the importance of getting good gas, and not settling for Ted's Gas'r'up.
So basically I wanted to get a list together for all the places that sell gas you can trust. And also maybe some of you could shed light on the "special" fuels like Shell's supposed cleaner and "nitrogen enriched" fuels. So I'll list what I can think of for now, and add to it later (tired and posting from my phone lol). Please call me out on it if you disagree or know more/better info!

I try to stick with "Top-Tier" gas stations like Shell. You can read about it this website: www.toptiergas.com. The Shell station near me was just renovated. They replaced the tanks and pumps last year. Newer tends to mean cleaner...
I actually only really use two specific gas stations, one is sunoco and the other is exxon, I also only get 93 in my car as well, never had an issue with either one.
I like Hess. An the local mom and pop near me has low prices and my car runs about the same regardless, so I'm not picky. Matt shouldn't you be using 91-93 octane on that 4.6?
Wawa gets their gas from the same places that raceway does. Fb and Exxon share refineries as well. So chances are you are getting the same exact gas except for one thing. The dye they put into it. Raceway and a few other companies buy what is called the change gas. Every company has a dye they add to their fuel. Hess is a little green, sunco a little yellow and so forth. When Exxon changes fuel dyes to send fuel for Mobil they have to pump all the previous dye out and it mixes with the new dye, so it is god knows what color. Then all the small companies buy this up. Sometimes there dirty batches as well and they get those as well, like rusty storage tanks or lines.
Hmm this will be good. I tend to go between Hess, BP, and Exxon (if I find one that doesn't charge more for credit) for my F150 using 87 and it doesn't run the best but with 12mpgs and a 36 gallon tank and expensive gas....it's all I can do.
For the Mustang it's gets babied with 93 from BP or Sunoco or Exxon.
I always stick to 87 or 93, never anything in the middle.
Now here's another thought, I can't say who told me but a friend of a friend heard that the gas station where he worked (good name brand) used to sell 87 as 89 gas and basically trick people. Pretty much all the gas stations attendants there knew and would tell everyone to use either the 87 or 93.
Have been using the Raceway in Hackettstown for 22 years, since before it was Raceway. Used the 87 octane in my 93, 98, & 07 Rangers. Use the 93 Octane in the Shelby, in fact except for $ 20 worth I put in on the Parkway, it's the only gas thats ever been in the Shelby....never an issue. This station is high volume, the gas doesn't stay in the tanks long. .......22 years is a pretty good stretch to get no bad gas.
Also, a news report showed a gas depot filling tankers from the same lines. Trucks marked Exxon, Sunoco, & Hess all got the same gas, along with unlabeled trucks.
